Natural Regional ParK

of Catalan Pyrenees

The Regional Natural reserve of Catalan Pyrenees was only born some years ago.
He(It) conceals an impressive quantity of cultural and natural sites of interest.
His(Her,Its) territory is centred on the line of the Small Yellow Train, the departure of which belongs very exactly to Villefranche de Conflent.

Naturally rich

This completely mountain territory has a height which varies between 400 and 2900 m.
He(It) counts numerous nature reserves of which some are world-famous (Nature reserve of Eyne) so much their flora and their fauna are rich and varied.
Summits in the famous names crown the Park: Canigou, Puigmal, Carlit...
The Regional Natural reserve shelters at present little visible sorts but well and truly present such as the bear of Pyrenees, the wolf and the lynx.
Easier to see, the izard, the mouflon, the marmot, the deer, the roe deer but also the bearded lammergeyer, the vulture wildcat(fawn), etc. are usual hosts of the Park.
The crystal clear rivers and the crystalline lakes are many in Capcir, Cerdagne and Conflent. They shelter the trout, among others.

Culturally fascinating

Besides the unique(only) Romanic sites such as Holy Martin du Canigou, this protected territory conceals an impressive quantity of small churches, chapels, present in almost every village or sometimes even in the middle of nowhere.
The technological heritage(holdings) is very present on the Park with not less than 3 solar furnaces (Mountain-Louis, Odeillo and Targasonne) and a very spectacular railroad line, that of the Yellow Train.
She(It) benefits from a classification by Unesco in the World heritage, quite as the elements of military architecture arose from the hand of Vauban in XVII °-XVIII ° century: Villefranche de Conflent, Strong Libéria, Mountain-Louis, etc....
